NEGLECTED TALENTS
What have I done with my talents?
Do they shine for the glory of God?
Have I buried them deep down in the earth,
Over which my ambitions have trod.
They came to me so easily
They took no effort at all
I said, “I’ll lay them aside just now,
When I need them, I’ll just call.”
But one thing I didn’t realise
In the dark and cold of neglect
God given talents, they simply die
And become useless, of no effect.
But I cried to my God, just like Samson
“Restore my talents I pray
Return the skill, the anointing
To serve you again for a day.”
“Let my pen once again speed the pages
Once again inspire my heart
Let my mind be fluent and skilful
So the truth can fly like a dart
I’ll never again hide my talent
The one you gave me so free
Yes, I’ll use it alone for your glory
And instead, I’ll bury … yes, me!”
